Deep Well Hand Pump

The Afridev Deep Well Hand Pump has emerged from field trials in Africa during the International Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Decade and currently meets the manufacturing quality standards set by SKAT*, Switzerland. This pump design conforms to the VLOM concept, i.e., maintainability at village level by users.

FEATURES
	The Above-ground mechanism consists of sturdy Mild Steel (MS) fabricated Pump Head, Handle and Pedestal assemblied, hot dip galvanised for corrosion resistance.
	Bearing bushes for the pivot assemblies are made from injection moulded special grade plastic.
	Variable handle settings are possible to meet changes in static water levels.
	Customisation of spout length and Pedestal is possible.
	Standard below-ground mechanism comprises of 10 mm dia., hot dip galvanised connecting rods, 63 mm OD µPVC Riser pipes with cemented joints and µPVC jacketed 50mm ID brass lined cylinder assembly.
	225 mm stroke length of the handle provides a water discharge of 1350 litres per hour with an installation depth range between 15 m to 45 m below-ground water.
	Easy to install, can be accomplished by village women mechanics.

SPECIAL FEATURES
	Cone Plate and rubber Cone for improved attachment of µPVC Riser pipe to pump body.
	Extra long spigot ends in Riser pipe to ensure high joint strength, leak proof pipe joints, and verticality of the pipe string. Rubber centralisers on riser pipes prevent external wear.
	Standard cylinder components comprise of injection moulded interchangeable Plunger and Foot Valve assemblies, made from modern engineering plastics.
	The Afridev pump's cylinder is also suited to use cast gun metal monolithic plunger and foot valve assemblies of the Universal Cylinder.
	Alternative stainless steel lined cylinder available for aggressive water conditions.
	Quick release Eye & Hook tool-less ends on Connecting Rods with rubber Centralisers, is standard supply. These facilitate maintenance and protect the riser pipe against internal wear.
	Stainless steel or Fibre Reinforced Glass Connecting Rods and Threaded coupling ends are also available for corrosive water conditions and lightweight application.
	Special tools and Standard tools for installaion, Masonry tools and Shuttering for Platform construction are available. Also, Fishing tools, Village level maintenance tools and Spare parts kits for two or five years' normal operation can be supplied.
